UPSC IAS Final Result 2024: UPSC will soon release the final merit list of the Civil Services Exam 2024. Candidates can check their results on the official website of UPSC, upsc.gov.in.

The interviews of the candidates who have cleared the prelims and mains are over. The interview round, which started on January 7, had its last day on April 17. In such a situation, the process for the creation of the UPSC CSE 2024 final result has started.

In UPSC Civil Services 2024, a total of 1132 vacancies were released for IAS, IPS, IFS, and other services. This is said to be the toughest exam in the country, which is mainly completed in three stages: Preliminary exam, main exam, and interview. The final merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the mains and interview.   • Along with the result, the UPSC may also release the category-wise cut-off marks for the Main examination.

  • This is the culmination of the entire examination process.
  • The final result is declared after the Personality Tests (Interviews) are concluded.
  • It is released as a PDF list containing the roll numbers and names of the candidates who have been finally selected for various services like IAS, IPS, IFS, etc.
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Main examination (written) and the Personality Test.
  • Along with the final result, the UPSC also releases the category-wise cut-off marks for the final selection.
  • Individual scorecards of the candidates (both qualified and not qualified) are usually released on the UPSC website a few days/weeks after the declaration of the final result. These scorecards show the marks obtained by the candidates in each paper of the Main examination and the Personality Test.

Information contained in the result PDFs typically includes:

  • Roll Number of the qualified candidates.
  • Name of the qualified candidates (in the final result).
  • Category of the candidate.
  • The rank secured by the candidate (in the final result).

UPSC 2023 Result Analysis

The final result of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023 was declared on April 16, 2024. Here’s an analysis of the key aspects of the result:

  • Overall, 352 female candidates were among the 1016 successful candidates. This is an increase from the 320 female candidates selected in 2022.

The UPSC releases the cut-off marks for the Preliminary, Main, and Final stages after the declaration of the final result. Here are the cut-off marks for the General category for each stage of the UPSC CSE 2023:

  • Preliminary Exam: 75.41 out of 200
  • Main Exam: 741 out of 1750
  • Final Result (Main + Interview): 953 out of 2025

The cut-off marks for other categories (EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PwBD) were also released and are generally lower than the General category cut-offs.

  1. Success Rate:
  • Approximately 13 lakh candidates applied for the UPSC CSE 2023.
  • Around 5-6 lakh candidates appeared for the Preliminary exam.
  • 14,624 candidates qualified for the Main examination.
  • 2,916 candidates were called for the Personality Test (Interview).
  • Finally, 1016 candidates were selected.
  • This indicates a very competitive examination with a final success rate of less than 1% of the applicants.
  1. Optional Subjects:
  • Many of the top 20 rank holders opted for optional subjects from the humanities and social sciences.
  • Among the top 5 rankers, optional subjects included Anthropology, Sociology, and Economics.

  • A significant number of successful candidates have backgrounds in engineering. However, relatively few choose engineering subjects as their optional subject in the Main examination.
