UPSC 2026 Notification Postponed

UPSC Exam 2026 is an All-India Civil Services Exam 2026 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). UPSC 2026 Notification:

The UPSC CSE 2026 Notification has been postponed due to administrative reasons, as stated by the Commission through its official website. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially postponed the release of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2026 notifications, which were originally scheduled for release on January 14, 2026. 

Key Updates for Aspirants (January 2026)

  • Reason for Postponement: The commission cited “administrative reasons” for the delay but did not provide specific details. Such delays are often linked to finalising vacancy numbers or internal logistical approvals.
  • Revised Notification Date: No specific new date has been announced. The UPSC stated the notifications will be issued in due course. Reports suggest they may be released by late January or early February 2026.
  • Preliminary Exam Schedule: As of now, the Preliminary Exam remains scheduled for May 24, 2026. Candidates are advised to continue their preparation based on this date unless a separate change is notified.
  • Mains Exam Schedule: The CSE Mains 2026 is currently set to begin on August 21, 2026.

UPSC 2026 Exam Date: UPSC is all set to conduct its Civil Services Prelims Exam on 24th May 2026.

The UPSC 2026 exam will be conducted in three stages:

  1. Prelims 2026: This is the first phase of the exam and consists of two types of objective papers: General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (CSAT). The UPSC Prelims 2026 exam becomes the first stage, and after qualifying for this exam, candidates can appear for the Mains exam.
  2. UPSC 2026 Mains Exam: Candidates who clear the Prelims exam proceed to the mains exam, which consists of nine papers.
